Kenmore Quickies - A Play on Art Short Play Festival Logo

Congratulations to Andrew Meyers – Winner of the Audience Favorite & Critics’ Choice Award for The Tooth Dealer

We’re baa-aack! And sunny days means SHORTS WEATHER!!

As If Theatre Company is back at it with our 3rd Annual Short Play Festival, The Kenmore Quickies – A Play on Art!

Eight playwrights, eight directors, and 13 actors come together to bring their talents to the stage for 4 performances, August 11-13, 2023.

This year’s inspiration for the short plays is provided by 8 wonderful local artists! Our local playwrights are randomly assigned their director, cast, and art piece,  and given a limited number of props to use (or not use – we’re not monsters).  Then the playwrights are sequestered deep within the forests of the South American Amazon (or their home office) for 4 weeks to devise their short play. Upon the deadline, the playwright returns from the forest (or their home office) and hands off the script to the director. The director gathers with their cast to rehearse for 2 weeks prior to opening night.

Each evening audience members will vote for the Audience Favorite Award, which will be presented after Sunday’s performance.

Funny, serious, a bit strange, and downright weird are all adjectives that can be used to describe this event.  Plus one heckuva good time!

This popular event plays at the historic Kenmore Community Club located right in the heart of Brewery Row, a short stroll to restaurants, and backs up to the Burke-Gilman Trail. Walk, bike, roll, or drive down to the club to celebrate the weird and the wonderful!

This is As If Theatre’s little love letter to Kenmore. So join us, won’t you?
