Dorothy Rosenthal Pierce as Mama Morton from Chicago

Dorothy on choosing her piece -

I decided to sing this fabulous song from “Chicago” since I was slightly under warmed-up and would LOVE the chance to play Mama… Also, it contains many of the sauciest lyrics known to womankind… and, I definitely deserve a LOT of tat for what I’ve got to give. There is something revelatory and freeing about putting a camera in front of your face and just singing to it – you have to forgive your foibles and love yourself – wrinkles, warts and all. ❤
Dorothy did her first show at the University of California, Davis when she was 5 years old. In the intervening years she has performed up and down the west coast, Oklahoma, Idaho, NYC and even Japan, including 18 months doing vaudeville and melodrama at the Pollardville Palace Showboat Theatre where she honed her ability to be ridiculous. She settled in Seattle and has been performing there for almost 30 years. She is a proud member of the cabaret troupe The Broads of Broadway and has been doing interactive improv with Events on the Edge for the 14 years. Dorothy has been seen at The Village Theatre, Civic Light Opera and many theaters in the Puget Sound. She has been a teaching artist for the past 17 years and now happily teaches the drama and musical theatre program at Edmonds Heights K-12. Some of her favorite roles have been Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly! at Leavenworth Summer Theater this year, Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man, and the Witch in Into the Woods.
